Where does the name Areopagite come from? According to Webster's Dictionary it comes from Dionysius the Areopagite who lived in the 1st century who was a Greek Christian and is thought to have been the first Bishop of Athens. He has long been considered the author of influential theological works actually written c.e. 500.
